Boo-yahs!
(Kudos)
Mortimer Literary is overjoyed at snaggin' ABA historical
writer, Katharine Wilde. I finally found someone with more
medieval knowledge that moi. Katie, we're "Wilde" about you!
Welcome.
Kelly Mortimer
did her first radio interview with Steve Bonenberger of the
Business Talk Radio Network. The show airs at different times
in different cities. Not sure of the schedules of the local
affiliates. To see the schedule, go to:
www.businesstalkradio.net
From there, you can
track the locals. There are about 30 stations in the BTRN. Some pick
up the show, and some don’t. They get calls from all over the US. My
interview will air tonight,
5/6/08,
morning, I think!
Kelly Mortimer
also snagged the monthly “Gotta Get It” column in the new magazine,
Christian Fiction Online. I’ll cover the latest in the
industry with my special brand of snarky humor. This mag will be
hot. Loaded with relevant info for every writer. See my next
newsletter for more info. First issue out in June, God willing…

Kelly Mortimer

Bob Sullivan w/s R.J. Sullivan
has a new Web site up! Take a look
at:
Kelly Ann Riley
scored a double. Her inspirational novel, Kitty's Fire, finaled
in RWA’s Golden Heart Contest in the Contemporary Series Romantic
Suspense/Adventure Category. Kelly Ann has also finaled in ACFW’s
Genesis Contest in the Romantic Suspense category! More Great Reviews for Robin Miller w/a Robin Caroll! 4
Stars – Cataromance:
Bayou Judgment
is an amazing “who done it” with the right amount of murder, mystery,
intrigue and romance to keep readers engaged. The author, Robin
Caroll is a wonderful author; she knows what works in a suspense
novel. Bayou Judgment is the third book in the Bayou
series. Yet
another story where the heroine finds a dead body, Bayou Judgment
by Robin Caroll, is sure to grab your attention. When crisis
hotline counselor Felicia Trahan finds her roommate's body, tough-guy
pastor Spencer Bertrand, who runs the center, vows to protect her.
Spencer feels he doesn't deserve the beautiful Felicia's attentions, but
he's quickly losing his heart. Suspense and romance mix nicely in this
compelling story. Kelly Mortimer
will be
teaching a class based on her non-fiction proposal Perils of
Publishing at RWA San Diego Chapter’s Spring Conference on
Saturday, May 17th!
Boo-Yahs to Mortimer Lit’s 2007 “Writer of the Year,” Raz Steel.
His debut paranormal/suspense romance, Love Without Blood, about
a female doctor in the Witness Protection Program who wonders if
the vampire she's asked to hunt is the one who attacked her, or the one
she's falling in love with, sold to Chris Keeslar at Dorchester
Publishing. Raz is now eligible for RWA’s PAN! Way to
go Robin Haseltine! Robin won my first eBay line edit auction.
Her debut urban fantasy/adventure romance, The Curse of the
Dragon’s Spell, where a witch and warlock use forbidden spells
during the Duel for Ultimate Dominion of her coven, is a modern
fairytale take-off of Beauty and the Beast, and blends Mayan,
Egyptian, and Greek mythologies with natural disasters mirroring the
tumultuous years that gave us tsunamis, mudslides, and hurricane
Katrina. Curse sold to Margaret Esch and Dona Paus at
Tiger Publications. Robin is now eligible for RWA’s PAN! I’ve started the
Mortimer Literary Mentorship Award. I want to take a writer who
needs extra help, and work with them thru 2008. My goal: to have a
publishable manuscript by December, and offer the writer representation.
This year’s winner
is: Ms. Pamela James (Mortimer Literary is the real winner!). Congrats to
Cynthia Hickey for the sale of her
follow-up to Fudge-Laced Felonies,
Candy-Coated Secrets, the
second book in her Summer Meadows Mystery Series.
Candy follows Summer as she nearly
joins the circus, not knowing that strolling down Highway 64 with an
elephant will lead to murder, land her up to her neck in another
mystery, and drag her unwilling fiancée into battling mans’ darker side.
Sold to Susan Downs at Barbour’s Heartsong Presents: Mysteries! The initials
allowing writers to query for the month of August are: U. I. (in that
order). A writer can't make up a
pseudonym to match the initials. It has to be established. I’m pleased to
announce the winner of Mortimer Literary’s “Writer of the Year” award
for 2007, RAZ STEEL. For those who don’t know, Raz was a
Romantic Times/Dorchester Publishing American Title III
finalist with Pass the Kryptonite. Raz has a go-to
attitude, listens to sound advice, and showed the lengths he’d go to to
be a Mortimer Lit client. For all that, and his exceptional writing
talent, Raz is this year’s winner. Boo-Yah, Raz! Your plaque’s in the
mail.
Robin Miller w/a Robin Caroll’s Romantic Times-reviewed, 4-1/2 star, October Top Pick,

changing an article and selling it to two different publications!

L.A. Byrne, who writes Military Romantic Suspense, and Middle Grade
